Christmas is Coming...

Happy Friday! We are not sure it’s the same for everyone, but it seems like the year just started and we are almost done with one semester (although this last week has taken up most of that time). This will be the last update for the semester; next week, we will be sending out our second quarter newsletter. Remember if you have any holiday recipes, traditions, or gratitudes you would like to share, the links are below. We also want to celebrate our breast cancer survivors - information is below.

Updates come out every Friday EXCEPT for the last Friday of the quarter (the KHSTA Newsletter will arrive on these dates). Please check your junk mail folder if you are not receiving them. Past updates will be archived on the KHSTA website (khsta.org).

LOCKING/LOGGING OFF YOUR COMPUTER
Please remember to lock or log off your computer when you are leaving your work station. Without doing this, information on your computer is accessible to anyone who is in your work area. Not only can confidential information be at risk; but duplicitous individuals can also send emails from your account for which you could be held responsible. The simplest solution is to lock your computer when you leave your work station.

JANUARY IN-SERVICE
There is not a January staff in-service this upcoming semester. The staff in-service will be the Monday following finals in June. Summer school will start on the Tuesday following the in-service.

HOLIDAY GRATITUDES AND RECIPES
As we head into the holiday season, we’d love to highlight the traditions and moments that make this time of year meaningful for KHSTA members. If you have a favorite holiday recipe or a gratitude you’d like to share, we invite you to contribute to our upcoming newsletter.
Your submissions help us celebrate the warmth, diversity, and appreciation that make our Association so special. Share below

BREAST CANCER AWARENESS
As we recognize Breast Cancer Awareness Month (we know it was in October, but we didn’t have a Newsletter), we want to honor and celebrate the incredible strength of our colleagues who are breast cancer survivors. If you are a survivor and would like to be included in this year’s recognition, we invite you to share your information. All submissions will be handled with care and respect. Please email Lori_Campbell@kernhigh.org, and she will get in touch.

AMERICAN FIDELITY - OPEN ENROLLMENT
American Fidelity is offering open enrollment through December 19th for its cafeteria plans. Some of the included options are their FLEX spending accounts (pre-tax medical and child care), supplemental hospital and cancer plans, and whole and term life insurance policies. America Fidelity sent an email to all members earlier this week. While American Fidelity has some great products, we do not recommend their disability insurance (we recommend The Standard).

KHSD INJURY AND ILLNESS PREVENTION PROGRAM
If you have safety issues or concerns on your campus, you can file them using the forms in the KHSD Injury And Illness Prevention Program handbook.

10 MINUTE MEETINGS
Your site reps will be doing monthly 10 minute meetings to help keep you informed. Reps should be having a 10 minute meeting to answer questions regarding the tentative contract. This month’s topic is Grades and Pressure to Change Grades. Next month’s topic is Evaluations 2.0 and Writing a Rebuttal.

CONFERENCES
KHSTA has reached the limit for grants this year! Over 50 grants have been given to attend various conferences. Conferences may be re-opened if recipients are unable to go.

Happy Friday!! Enjoy your weekend!
