Bargaining Info & Application

Collective bargaining is one of the most important responsibilities of the Kern High School Teachers Association. The bargaining team represents all members at the negotiating table and works with the District to negotiate salaries, benefits, working conditions, and other provisions of the collective bargaining agreement. Because the decisions made through bargaining directly affect our members’ professional and personal lives, serving on the team requires a significant commitment of time, preparation, collaboration, and professionalism. We are seeking dedicated and qualified members who can thoughtfully represent the interests of the entire bargaining unit, maintain confidentiality when required, analyze information objectively, communicate effectively, and work as part of a team toward agreements that reflect the priorities and needs of our membership.  In addition to the Bargaining Team, the Contract Committee serves as an important link between the bargaining team and Association members across the District. Committee members represent all school sites and specialty groups, helping identify and communicate concerns, priorities, and contract-related issues that may need to be addressed through bargaining. Members also provide valuable feedback on bargaining proposals and help ensure the bargaining team understands how potential contract changes may affect different sites, programs, and employee groups. The committee helps keep bargaining grounded in the experiences and needs of the members the Association represents.  
 
KHSTA and KHSD will be bargaining a full three year contract this spring. With the opening of the new contract bargain, we will be resetting the bargaining team and the contract committee.
