I hope everyone had a great summer! This year we are pleased to welcome more than 150 new teachers into our association as the district continues to expand. It’s terrific for our kids and for us!
I know your calendar is already full, but I’d like to invite you to join us at one of our many informational seminars this year, including those regarding member benefits, insurance, pharmacy benefits, as well as STRS and 403b/457 opportunities. You are working hard for those perks – let us show you how to access them!
We will also be offering a session about the latest on student loan forgiveness, as the topic continues to evolve with the new administration in Washington. Look for seminar dates in the upcoming newsletters.
With the departure of Jesse Aguilar, we are electing a new vice president this fall. Be on the lookout for an e-mail through your KHSD account from SimplyVoting.com. We are running our election through their website again. The voting window is Sept. 13 through 18, so if you haven’t received a link please let Mark Trunnell at Centennial know ASAP.
Also be aware that we are bargaining again with the district, as this year allows for “openers” on both sides. Be sure to read Cathy Adams’s update in this issue for the latest.
Lastly, please join us on October 3, 2017, at the KHSTA office at 2441 “F” Street for dinner to welcome our new teachers. Everyone is welcome; RSVP to Jan Graves at [email protected]. We are also starting a buddy support program for our newbies to assist them with understanding benefits, compensation and additional related information. Hope to see you there!
Have the best year ever!
