Two (2) funded, local, delegate positions to the NEA RA are available. If you are interested in declaring candidacy for a Local Delegate position to this year’s NEA Representative Assembly in Washington D.C. please fill out a Declaration of Candidacy form and return it to the KHSTA office located at 2441 F Street, Bakersfield, CA 93301 by 5:00 P.M., Tuesday, February 23, 2016


The NEA Representative Assembly is the largest democratic deliberative assembly in the world. California sends more than 1,000 delegates to the NEA RA each summer. During this annual meeting, CTA members help set policy and chart the direction of NEA business through participation on various committees, constituencies, caucuses, and leadership groups.

February 23, 2016 is the deadline to submit the official KHSTA Declaration of Candidacy form for local delegates to the 2016 NEA Representative Assembly in Washington, D.C.


The Declaration of Candidacy form for local delegates is available here. It is the responsibility of each member wishing to run as a local delegate to fill out the Declaration of Candidacy form (or photocopy) and file it by the deadline.


In order to attend the Representative Assembly, you must pay for your meals, hotel room and transportation for July 1-8. KHSTA will reimburse two (2) local delegates up to $2,000 with appropriate receipts.


The first caucus meeting is set for July 2, and the annual meeting of the Representative Assembly runs July 4-7.
