The Kern High School Teachers Association is the exclusive representative of the certificated staff of the Kern High School District. The Association was organized in 1977 as the Kern High Faculty Association and has a current membership of 1,700 members. 96% of all teachers teaching in the District are members of the Association. With the opening of Mira Monte and Independence High Schools this year membership is expected to grow dramatically. KHSTA is dedicated to the service of its members and strives to guarantee the emotional, physical and professional well being of each member it represents. Our strength is our unity.


About Our District

The Kern High School District (KHSD) is headquartered in Bakersfield, California and serves the county of Kern located at the southern end of the San Joaquin Valley. The Kern High School District is California’s largest 9-12 high school district with more than 35,000 students and 3,500 employees.The KHSD encompasses about 3,500 square miles, about 43 percent of the total area of Kern County.
